LoVe this powerful piece as a letter to your inner critic. What a wonderful exercise, thank you, Shailla.

"...and i’ll probably listen to you. until, inevitably, the pull for creation becomes too big to ignore. then, we’ll run through this cycle all over again....

but i want to change that. i don’t want you to be quiet.

no.

i want you to express yourself."

!!!! OK I won't copy and paste the entire piece here but I'm tempted to. I'm just so moved by the wisdom, compassion, and openness you meet this part of you with. That is the only way things change, but the last thing it occurs to us to do most of the time. This is so instructive, aspirational, normalizing ... and a joy to read. I look forward to seeing more of these letters here from time to time ... it's an important window into what's happening inside the mind and heart of the person in this inspiring story.

Eeeep thank you! And thank you for reading. And you're about how things change and often the last thing we think to do. Always *fun* to be in that in-between phase.

So honest and brave of you for sharing this, thank you. I like how you talk tenderly to your imposter voice at the end, accepting that it’s still a part of you and therefore deserving of compassion. It’s similar to how I’ve read (learned and try to practise) about how to address your inner critic: to acknowledge its concerns as valid but unnecessary because your true, grown-up self is safe and can look after you in this challenge x

Thank you for reading! Yeaa the inner critic voice can be loud too. Just the acknowledgement of those parts of ourselves go such a long way.
